Image
Our apartment is so cute.  We spent 2 1/2 days getting settled into it and making if feel like home.   The Kitchen.  It has all new appliances.   This is the Living Room and Dinning Area.   Our Office, where we study. And our bedroom. There are 2 bathrooms and  we even have our own washer and dryer. It's such a cute plaace, we feel at home already.

The Drive to Missouri

We left the MTC on Saturday August 17th.  Our plan was to arrive in Missouri on Monday, but after driving for 2 days we were tired and decided to do some sightseeing on Monday, to break things up. So Monday we stopped in Independance and went through the Visitors Center there.  It was fun to talk to the senior missionaries there as they took us on a tour. Next we headedd to Liberty Jail, and took the tour there. Then on to Adam-ondi-Ahman.  There were acres and acres of green grass, trees and flowers.  There was such a sweet, peaceful feeling there we didn't want to leave. We arrived at the Mission Office on Tuesday where we met the senior missionaries that work there.  They gave us the keys to our apartment and updated us on a few things.  We were off to see where we would live for the next year!

MTC - Provo Utah

We checked into our room at the MTC.  What a cute room.  It was similar to a hotel room, Queen bed, corner desk with 2 chairs and a bathroom.  It was so clean. Monday we met with all the new Senior Missionaries. There were about 100 of us coming in that day! We were all put into Districts.  A District was 4 couples and we spent the rest of the week with them in classes.  We met our afternoon teacher, Brother Reeve, and he gave us a tour of the MTC. Meals were so fun and crazy with about 2000 young missionaries!! Tuesday, we met our morning teacher, Sister Garrison.  We grew to love her also. We were matched up with a couple from another class who we had to get to know and give them a missionary invitation.  It was hard to think of what to invite them to do. It was their third missison.  We met with them three different days and grew to love them so much.    The Powers!! Tuesday night was the Devotional.  No one ever knows who ...

On our way to the MTC

Image
We left Glendale Thursday morning with hugs and good-byes to Emily and Jane and drove to Cedar City.   Friday morning we got up and drove to Salt Lake City and spent the afternoon with Danny's family.  We went to Mills Creek Common and watched the kids roller blade and play in the water pad, ate pizza and roman.  Saturday we played games and watched the kids play on the tramp and jump in to their pool.  Lots of fun! We said our good-byes with lots of hugs and tears and see you in a year. Sunday we had breakfast with John and Renee and then went to church with them. After church we visited a little more and then headed off to Steve and Becky's for dinner.  Love those brothers of mine. MTC in the morning!!!

The Setting Apart

Image
Our appointment to be set apart as full time missionaries was set for August 7th at 7:00 at our home.  At 6:30 our daughter Michelle and her husband, Trevor  and 4 boys arrived.  Emily and Jane were there and then Bishop and Kelly Cable came.  President Barton got there just around 7:00 and we were ready to start.  Just then the door bell rang and Dan told me to get it.  I opened the door and there was Kelly Abner, one of my couoncilors from my Stake Relief Society Presidency.  She had come by to drop off a little gift.  Just in time!  We invited her to come in a join us.  What a wonderful surprise to be able to include Kelly in our special evening. President Barton talked about how important the Small and Simple things are.  How small and simple things can make a  difference in our lives.  He then asked everyone if they had any advice to give us. Some of the things that were shared were: Don't run faster than you are able...

The Mission Call

Image
We got notification of our mission call as I was getting on a plane to Utah to visit two of my High School girl friends.  I was so excited!! But ... I really wanted to be with Dan when we opened our letter, so we decided to wait till I got home in 3 days to open it.  It was all planned and the kids were ready to Zoom and watch us open it when my flight got delayed for three hours.  That put me home around 11:00pm.  So we went with play B and set it up for the next morning.  All the kids were on line as we opened our up mission call. WE ARE HEADED TO  THE MISSOURI, ST. LOUIS MISSION!! Stay tuned for great adventures to come!
