A Flooded Apartment, Valentines Day and the Cutest Shed Ever!

Image
February 10-16 Monday morning, we called the Owner of the sister's apartment that had flooded and explained to her that the apartment was still wet, and something needed to be done.  She went over herself and looked.  Yes, it was a wet mess. She called for blowers to come in and dry the carpet.  We thought the problem was solved.  Staff meeting, President talked about needing some extra beds in the Millennial Apartments for transfers.  He thought they already had some and asked us to make sure. If not, we needed to put some in.  He also wanted to know when all the Senior Apartment Leases were up.  After our meeting we went over to the Millennial Apartment where the Social Media Elders live to see what it looked like.  Bunkbed? NO Room for bunkbeds? Probably, but it would be tight.  When we got back to the office, I put together all the Senior Leases to share with President at our next meeting.  We have some bunkbeds in the Storage...

Closing and Cleaning Apartments

Week of February 3 - 9 After Staff Meeting Elder Connell, who is a part time Service Missionary, talked with us.  He has been helping Sister Davis with Finances, but she doesn't really need his help anymore, so he asked if he could help us.  YES, PLEASE!!!!  He is really good with computer things and knows a lot about contracts and stuff.  He made a contract landlord list for all the apartments that is going to be really helpful.  He's gone through and put all the leases into the computer, that was supposed to be done a year ago. We think we will ask him next week to take over handling all the emails, which consist of leases and insurance.  He really is an answer to our prayers.  We needed to go to Walmart and buy some supplies that Sisters have asked us for and then we went over to the Storage Unit.  We packed up a few things to take with us for tomorrow's trip to Springfield. Tuesday, we left early and drove up to Springfield, about a 2-ho...

Snow and Ice

Week of January 27 - February 2  Monday after staff meeting, we made plans to go to Sikeston and Poplar Bluff.  Sikeston Elders needed 2 bed frames, 1 mattress, a dryer and a bike rug.  We called them and set up a time to meet us at their apartment and help set things up.  Then we called the Poplar Bluff Elders, they needed a new dryer also, kitchen table and 2 chairs.  So, we set a time to meet them also.  We hooked the trailer up to the truck and headed over to the Storage Unit to gather all the things. There is still snow and ice, so Dan had to scrape it up, so we didn't slip putting things into the trailer. Tuesday, we set out early to get everything done.  The Sikeston Elders were so happy and cute about getting all the stuff for their apartment. They had old mattresses and frames that we were just going to throw away.  They have a balcony on the second floor outside of the bedroom.  So we just throw the things that we were going t...

It's a high 2 degrees out.

Week of January 20-26 After Staff Meeting, we worked on our Inspector's List.  We have inspectors for each Zone that go to each of the missionary apartments and see that they are keeping them clean and then report back to us if they are in need of anything.  Every 6 weeks, after transfers, I update which missionaries are in each apartment so the inspectors can contact them before going over.  I got those all updated and mailed out to them.  We ordered some new missionary badges for new Service Missionaries that have been called to help with inspections.  Then there is always a long list of emails to go through and answer.  Usually new apartment leases to sign and Insurance to get.  That takes up a lot of our time. Tuesday it was a high 2 degrees outside!!  We went over to San Carlos Dos and cleaned.  It is always so surprising to us how much missionaries leave in the apartments when they get transferred.  Lots of clothes and lots o...

Zone Conference Week and a Lost Wallet

Image
Week of January 13-19 Zone Conference Week!  I love Zone Conferences.  It is so fun to see all the missionaries. We have gotten to know quite a few of them.  And they are always so happy when we bring them things they need for their apartments. Monday, after Staff Meeting, we went through lists of what each missionary needs and what we need to bring to them.  Also, it means a trip to the Storage Unit.  I have to admit, the Storage Unit is my least favorite place to go.  It is ALWAYS so cold.  And since this big storm there is so much snow and ice that we can't drive the trailer into it.  So, it's extra work getting things into the truck and then into the trailer.   Tuesday was our Zone Conference.  President has us still in the O'Fallon Zone.  So we get to stay for the whole conference and lunch.  President always asks what our take away was from the conference.  On the way home Dan and I talked about what ours ...
