A Homeless guy, a Cigarette Lighter and a Miracle!

Image
Week of January 6-12 2025 Worse storm in 6 years!  So much snow and ice and freezing cold.  Dan had to meet the missionaries that were going home at the Hotel at 4:00 am to get them to the airport on time.  He had locked the luggage in the trailer so it would be safe.  But that morning before he drove to the airport he tried to unlock the trailer but it was frozen and wouldn't budge.  He was so nervous what he was going to do, but headed over to the airport.  He got the airport and parked in front of the terminal.  As he was getting out of the truck he saw a homeless guy walking up to him.  He had the thought to ask him if he had a lighter.  He did!  So they warmed up the lock and it came open.  Dan thanked him and gave him $5.00.  The guy was very happy and so was Dan.  What a miracle!  The Lord was watching over him.  It really was another miracle that all the missionaries got home that day.  A few flights...

Happy New Year!

Monday's are Staff Meetings in the Office.  It's fun to meet with President and his wife and all the staff in the office.  We are becoming good friends. We ran a few errands after our staff meeting.  We needed to set up our internet, and try and get an tax exempt card for Walmart .  Walmart was not very helpful and said we couldn't have one.  We'll have to try a different Walmart another day.   Tuesday was New Year's Eve.  We worked for part of the day in the office and then went to another Walmart to try and get our tax exempt card.  Well, they gave it to us without any problems, so we did some shopping for supplies that we needed to some missionaries.  But when we got up to the check out they said our card had expired.  What?  I just got it 30 minutes ago.  We went through several clerks and managers to try and get it to work.  Finally we put everything back and left.  (a little grumpy)  That night the who...

Christmas and a Moving Day

With our new assignment to be the Housing Coordinators we needed to be in the office as much as we could, to learn our new responsibilities.  So Monday morning we headed over and spent the day learning!  I thought my brain was going to explode.   Tuesday was Christmas Eve and we wanted to spend some time with some of the less active friends we have made.  So we went to Andrews house and gave him a little nativity .  He teared up when he saw it.  He always tries to be a hard guy, but he has the softest heart ever.  Debbie Craig was working so we went over to the Eckhart's farm and talked with her.  I had bought her a nativity also.  She was very appreciative and happy.  Lastly we went by Robert Taylors house and we had gotten him a Big Foot Blanket .  He loved it!  Shed a few tears there too.  These three have become very special to us.   Christmas morning Jane called us early!  She was so excite...

Christmas Zone Conference

Monday we started in the office learning about a few of our responsibilities we will need to learn in preparation for our weekly staff meeting with the President and his wife.  I was feeling overwhelmed! After our meeting we met with President McKay and he answered a few questions we had.   Tuesday was a Christmas Zone Conference !  It was really special.  President and Sister McKay and about 15 missionaries did a wonderful program, reading and singing about Joseph Smith .  The spirit was so strong.  We then had a big lunch.  Ham, yummy potatoes, vegetables, salad, rolls and cake for dessert.  It was great.  After lunch the missionaries played Minute To Win It games , Zone against Zone.  It was wild and so much fun!! Wednesday we were back in the office learning more about contracts and then went over to the Storage Unit and saw all that was in there.  Lots of furniture and supplies for the missionaries. Thursday we stay...
