Happy New Year!
Monday's are Staff Meetings in the Office. It's fun to meet with President and his wife and all the staff in the office. We are becoming good friends. We ran a few errands after our staff meeting. We needed to set up our internet, and try and get an tax exempt card for Walmart. Walmart was not very helpful and said we couldn't have one. We'll have to try a different Walmart another day.
Tuesday was New Year's Eve. We worked for part of the day in the office and then went to another Walmart to try and get our tax exempt card. Well, they gave it to us without any problems, so we did some shopping for supplies that we needed to some missionaries. But when we got up to the check out they said our card had expired. What? I just got it 30 minutes ago. We went through several clerks and managers to try and get it to work. Finally we put everything back and left. (a little grumpy) That night the whole mission had a New Years Devotional from 8:00-9:00 pm. It was wonderful and afterwards we were tired so off to bed we went. At 12:00 we heard lots of noise outside. I got up and looked out the window and they had Fireworks going on. We watched out our window and when they ended we went back to bed.
JANUARY 1, 2025!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
We didn't have to go into the office but Spectrum came and hooked us up to the Internet. Yay!
Thursday and Friday we were back in the office learning more. Friday afternoon we went over to MLC (mission leader council) After their meetings I helped Sister Smith serve them lunch. Sister Smith did all the work I just came and helped serve and clean up. It is always fun when we get to be with the missionaries.
Saturday we drove to Springfield, about a 2 hour drive and moved some Sisters in to a new apartment. We had 4 Elders come and help. They got to move in to a really cute little house. It was old but so much character. They loved it.
Saturday night we had a big storm come through. It snowed pretty hard and we got about 12 inches of snow. Then it snowed off and on for the next day. The storm was bad enough that they cancelled church all over the mission.
Sunday night the missionaries that were going home, met at the mission home for a last dinner and testimony meeting and then they were all staying in a hotel near by. Dan is in charge of picking up and delivering the luggage to and from the airport. So in the storm he had to go over to the mission home and pick up their luggage. We have a truck and trailer to lug things around. We've been so grateful for the truck, it has 4 wheel drive. We never would have been able to leave our house with out the 4 wheel drive.
Missionaries were told to stay in doors for a few day. I've been told that when it snows here that it melts in a day or two and it's not bad. The snow from this storm has not started to melt and it is so cold I don't think it will ever melt. 10 degrees! Too cold for me!
Pray for SUN!!
