A Ceiling Falling in and Dinner Rolls being thrown at us

 Week of June 2 - June 8

Our plan was to move the Sikeston Sisters into their new apartment on Thursday.  We had it all set up.  The Elders from the town next to them were coming, the Elders Quorum President and a few others from the Ward were all meeting us at the apartment at 10:30 on Thursday.  Perfect, we were ready to go and get it all done in one day.

Wednesday night around dinner time, Dan said a couple of times, "I'm not feeling very good."  But I didn't really think too much about it.  Then at 9:00 he told me he had been having chest pains and they seem to be getting worse.  I told him we should probably go to the ER.  No, he didn't want to, just yet.  I went to sleep about 10:00 and about 10:30, he woke me up and said, "I think we should go."  The pains hd gotten worse.  So we got to the hospital about 11:00 pm.  They did EKG and blood tests and said they felt like he should stay over night.  They hadn't seen anything but because of his history they wanted to run more tests in the morning. So I went home about 2:00 am and tried to sleep for a couple of hours.

I realized that we were suppose to be moving the sisters that day, but there was no way we were going to make it.  So I called the Elders Quorum President and asked if he would be in charge of the whole things.  "Sure, no problem!"  I called the Sisters and explained we wouldn't be there but they were still moving.  Everything went off without a glitch.  So very thankful for good Elders Quorum Presidents.

Dan went through lots of testing and they couldn't find any evidence that he had had a heart attack.  So they sent him home around 4:00 that afternoon.  We rested the rest of the day and Dan was ready to go to work the next morning.

Friday night we had a Farewell Dinner at Addies Thai HousePresident and Sister McKay are leaving along with the Smith's and Mott's.  So we had one big "Good Bye" for all three.  It was a fun evening and lots of stories were shared.

Saturday we headed down to Sikeston to finish closing the apartment and brought the Sisters a few things that they needed.  Things in their old apartment had gotten so bad that they were in need of a couch, living room chair, kitchen table and chairs, desks and desk chairs and a few kitchen things.  Once we got there we realized some other things that they needed, so we made a list and went to Walmart to get them for them.  The Sisters wanted to go by the old apartment one more time to pick up some weights so we all went over together.  This is what we found in their bedroom.

After getting the few things the Sisters wanted from the apartment, we throw away a bunch of stuff and left the apartment.  We didn't feel like it was worth trying to clean it up.

We were hunger so on the way out of town we saw "Lamberts".  We had heard about this restaurant and so we decided to stop and eat there.  What a fun place.  License plates on all the ways and lots of tables everywhere.  You are pretty much right next to another table.  Their thing is bread. But instead of bringing you a basket of bread to your table, they throw it to you.  So if you want some, you raise your hand and they throw it to you.  The rolls were hot and tasted delicious.  After you get your order they walk around and offer you different things.  They carry it around in big bowls.  They had different kinds of potatoes, vegetables, beans and stuff I didn't even know what they were.  So much fun.

Some little girls really wanted to catch a roll so he went over and throw them right to them so they could catch them.  Normally it was across the whole room.

The rolls were Big!

  2. I'm so glad the ceiling waited to fall until after the sisters moved out.
That roll throwing is hilarious. Makes for a fun, interactive dinner!

    1. The roll throwing is hilarious! Sounds like a fun place. Maybe you'll want to start that tradition with your family at like Thanksgiving time or something. Throw their rolls!
