TORNADO SEASON!

Image
Week of March 10-16 Moday was our regular Staff Meeting and lots of emails and projects to work on.  We decided that it would be good for each missionary apartment to have our phone number, their Inspectors phone number and the office/maintenance of their apartment phone number.  So, I have been making up that list for each of the apartments.  I'll laminate them and then put a magnet on them so they can be in each apartment on their refrigerator.  It's turning out to be a bigger project than I thought it would be,  but I really think it's going to be helpful.  I've also been trying to put that information in my notebook (I carry with me everywhere) and also if the washer and dryer and microwave is the missions or the apartments.  It is so helpful to have it on hand and not have to go the file each time to look it up.   Tuesday we got up early and drove to Sikeston to switch out a washer for the Missionaries.  I love going to the mi...

Popeye, the Sailor Man Take 2

The week of March 3-March 9 After Staff Meeting we had several Landlords that we needed to call and report problems to.  Dan called one Landlord to report that there was no ceiling in the hallway of this one apartment.  So he called him and was telling him of the problem and asked if he could fix it.  The Landlord was quiet for a minute and ten said, "well, let's just part ways!"  Dan was confused so he said, "What do you mean?" The man said, "Let's just part ways." and hung up on him.  Dan was so confused and worried, was he kicking our missionaries out of the apartment?  What were we supposed to do now?  He sent him an email and apologized if he had offended him.  It was crazy, we didn't know really what we were to do with the situation. Tuesday, we were off early to Carbondale to clean an apartment that had been closed for a couple of transfers.  We weren't quit sure what we would find.  To our surprise it looked great!!  I...

Another Zone Conference Week!

February 24-March 2 The weather is so nice!  Everyone says it's just fooling us, that it will get cold again.  But for now, I'm loving it. I wake up and hear the birds singing! Monday was staff meeting.  Always a few things to talk about after transfers, but I think it all went pretty good.   It's ZONE CONFERENCE WEEK!  There are 10 Zones in our mission.  So President groups 3 zones together Tuesday and Wednesday and the Thursday there are 4 zones together.  President has asked all of the Senior Missionaries to attend the Zone Conference that they are part of.  We are part of the O'Fallon Zone, so Tuesday was our Zone Conference.  We always get there about an hour ahead of time so we can deliver supplies to missionaries that have called and asked for different things.  Frying pans is a big one (I don't know why so many apartments don't have frying pans) measure cups, blenders and dishes.  As they get to the conference, El...

Transfer Week and a Good-bye to a Senior Couple

February 17-23 TRANSFER WEEK!  Monday staff meeting on transfer weeks are a little crazy.  We find out which apartments will close or open.  It's a little stressful.  We have about 8 apartments that don't have any missionaries in them.  So they always have to be clean and ready to put missionaries back in them.  We are in charge of the keys to each apartment.  So we send out a message to all the missionaries the night before that are getting transfered to be sure to leave their apartment key with their companion.  For those that apartments are getting White Washed (meaning both missionaries are leaving an area and 2 new ones are coming in) we are in charge of collecting the keys and Sim Cards from their phones. Then we need to be sure the right missionaries get the new keys and Sim Card for their new area.  It can get a little crazy because the missionaries are so excited to be at transfers and seeing their old companions, it's like a b...
