The Arch and the Biggest Catsup Bottle in the World
Monday was Labor Day and P-Day so we headed out to do some sightseeing. We drove to the Mississippi River Overlook. We had to drive through some pretty ghetto area's and as we were getting there Dan said, "see that tower over there, we have to climb that to see the Arch."
Not true...there was a nice ramp we climbed up and saw a beautiful view of the Mississippi River and the Arch. It was amazing!!
Then we took a drive along the Mississippi River. It is so wide and beautiful. Trees and greenery everywhere. It was so fun to see.
After our drive we went over to the Webb's house for a BBQ. They have a big family with lots of kids running everywhere and lots and lots of food. He smoked pork, beef, and BBQed some chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs. It was crazy! Sister Webb had to work so Brother Webb was just there with all the family. They are a fun family.
Tuesday, is Temple Tuesday. So we went to an Endowment Session and met another Senior couple from our Mission. We talked with them for a while and they gave us some tips. We stopped by the Distribution Center there on the temple grounds and looked around, then went over to the Mission Office. That is always a fun place to be. Brother Recker, is in charge of all the supplies there and told us to come in and take anything and everything we wanted. I felt like a kid in a candy shop. We got some Book of Mormon's and pamphlets and loaded up with everything we could think we might want.
On our way home we stopped at a hospital there in St. Louis to visit Sister Lane, from the Ward. She had fallen and broke 6 ribs. This poor sweet lady was very confused when we got there. I went up to her to hold her and and say hi and she just grabbed my hand so tight and wouldn't let go. She was so scared and thought someone in the bed next to her, was trying to take her away. She kept saying, "don't let them take me." I tried to calm her down and talk to her but she didn't understand and I couldn't understand her very well. (because of a stoke she had earlier) Finally she asked us to call a Brother in the Ward to ask him and his wife to come over and help her. We called and he said his wife was there at the hospital for an appointment for herself. He called her and she came up to visit before she headed home. What a blessing this sister was. She knew Sister Lane very well and could help her realize she was safe.
Wednesday, was mission transfer's and the sister had a new member lesson to give to a 9 year old girl, Heaven, but they weren't going to be able to make it. So they asked if we could do it. So we planned a lesson on the First two Great Commandments. It went pretty well. Heaven is such a cute little girl. It felt like we were teaching a lesson to Jane!
Thursday was a long day. We went to lots of houses but no one answered their door. This is a picture of the largest bottle of catsup in the world. I hear it's terrible catsup!
Friday we taught Andrew Perkins about the Restoration and the Priesthood. He was baptised about 20 years ago but doesn't remember much. We found out he holds the Priesthood but doesn't really know anything about it. He was very receptive to all we taught. He has a big heart.
That night Brother Webb's granddaughter got baptised. He invited us to come. It was so sweet.
Saturday the youth did a fund raiser Carnival!! They have been working on it for weeks. Making signs, building games, and planning food. We helped a couple times with some of the painting and helped set up on Saturday. Then we were assigned to the food booth. So we got to serve food to everyone for 3 hours. It was fun and we got to talk to lots of people. But boy was I tired after helping clean up.
Another great week. We are loving serving and meeting lots of people.
