Zone Conference Week!

A new week and it was a good one!!

Monday, we met with Robert Taylor.  He is going through Chemo and is really struggling.  But he loves for us to come and visit him.  He has great stories to tell.  He is a big believer in BIG FOOT and has stories of seeing hiss foot prints in the woods.  He also remembers the time when he was young when it RAINED FISH!  Still need to look that one up.

We met Sister Traynor who is in an Assisted Living Facility and has lots of health problems.  But she is so sweet and wishes she could come to church more often.

Then we watched President Nelson's 100 Birthday!!  It was wonderful.

Tuesday was Zone Conference up in Champaign, IL.  Champaign is about 2 1/2 hours away.  We drove another senior couple, the Dodd's.  It was so fun to be with all the young missionaries and to be taught by them.  President and Sister McKay taught some powerful lessons on being united as one and the importance of the gathering of Israel.  Love them so much.  After the conference the Relief Society fed us lunch.  So thankful for those sweet sisters and there kindness to us.  We sat at the table of all senior missionaries and got to know them.  It was fun to share some stories and hear what they are doing.

Wednesday I was so tired but we did some visits in the afternoon.  We met with Andrew Perkins and talked about Prophets and listening to them.  He is so believing.  He just needs a friend and someone to bring him to church each week.  We are working on that.  We visited Karen Lane in a facility also.  She has lots of health problems but we found out she is a 49er fan.  Dan was excited to talk to her about football.

Thursday we visited with the Waidman's.  I love the Waidman's..  When we go there I feel like i'm home.  It's like being at my mom and dad's house.  They are so wonderful and I love being there with them.  We brought Sister Waidman some flowers and she was so happy.  They are always giving us bags of food.  They some how have figured out where different cities and churches give out food each week and they get it.  They get so much they just share it with everyone they know might need it.

That evening we met with Sister Heiman.  She is the Family History Specialist.  She is very quiet but once we started talking about Family History she brightened up and was very excited.  Our friend Robert Taylor has mentioned to us that we would like to his wife (who passed away 3 years ago) baptised.  We asked if she could help us with this and before we even got home that night she had found her ad sent us all the information that was needed to do it!  We are excited to share it with Robert this week.

Friday we went to the Temple.  We met the newly seta apart Temple President. k He is newer than us in his calling.  We also met a sister from our Ward that we have been trying to connect with.  As we were sitting in the Celestial Room we saw our Stake President and talked with him for a minute.  We also saw another senior couple from our mission.  What a great place to run into people.

After the temple we went to Ted Drewes Custard Place.  Brother Klegg had given us a gift card for this place before we left.  We didn't know anything about it, but come to find out it's a famous custard place.  And it was GOOD11  We look forward to going back.

Saturday, Sister Traynor needed to get a few things at Walmart before her surgery this week, so we took her.  She used one of those electric shopping carts you sit in, and boy, she was zipping through that place like crazy.  Saturday night was Stake Conference.  Elder Bennett was the visiting 70.  It was such a good meeting.  He talked about the importance of small and simple things in our lives and how that effects others.  He had a sister come up and tell about her coming back to church and after her talk he invited her to stay and he asked questions about those that really helped her.  He had everyone in her ward stand up and he had about 4 of them come up and share there story about helping her.  It was an amazing way to teach!

Sunday we brought Andrew Perkins to Stake Conference with us.  He really enjoyed it.  I think he just loves being there and feeling the Spirit so strongly.  He is a good man.  After Conference we had a few visits with some of the active members to get to know them.  That is fun to get to know the members better.  At 6:30 we had Missionary Coordination Meeting (MCM).  After that the Sisters invited us to join them on a lesson.  We both shared our testimony of the Book of Mormon.

Great things are starting to happen and we are loving it!!
