Christmas Celebrations Begin!

This week we spent most of our time visiting members, active or less active, inviting them to the Ward Christmas Party on Friday. I made this invite to leave with them, or at the door if no one was home.

Bella, our cute little Elf on the Shelf has been busy this week.  Each day she is up to something new.  I didn't get a picture of all her shenanigans but below are a few from this week.

Monday, Dan's ear was hurting, so after delivering some invitations he went to the doctor.  They said he had fluid on the outside of his ear and gave him some meds.

Most of Tuesday and Wednesday were spent inviting people to the Ward Party.  After District Council Sister Traynor called and needed a ride to her bank.  She was having problems with her account and needed to go in and have their help figuring it out.  They were successful so after dropping her off  delivered a few more invites.

Bella, trying to do some laundry!

Thursday Sister Traynor needed a ride to Walmart to get some food. We picked her up and helped her to get the things she needed.  After that we drove over to Andrew's to give him a ride to his bank but he wasn't there.  Robert Taylor wanted us to come by and visit with him.  He has started a new treatment for his cancer and wanted to talk about its effects. He has finally realizing that he might not get better from his cancer and it's been hard accepting.  Plus he's really upset about losing his hair from this new 'plant based chemo' treatment. Later in the day we had a lesson with Bernard Reed.  He is finally well enough to start working and found a job in St. Louis. He is very excited about it.  That evening Dan went over to the church and helped set up for the Ward Party.

Friday we went to the Temple and afterwards stopped by the mall where the Giving Machines are.  It was so much fun to talk to the people there and watch people coming up and asking about what this was. We bought a few things and then had lunch there at the Food Court.  When we got home I hurried over to the church to help decorate for the party that evening.  I got home just in time to change my clothes and head back over to the Party.  There was a pretty good turn out, around 90.  Dinner was great, turkey and ham with mashed potatoes and green beans.  And LOTS of desserts!!

We found Bella saying her prayers.

Saturday Sister Traynor needed to go to Walmart so we took her over.  While she was at Walmart someone broke into her apartment and took her pain meds.  After we dropped her off we did a little Christmas shopping for our kids and then got another phone call from Sister Traynor needing to go to the Emergency Room. Without those pain meds she was in a lot of pain. After 3 hours (which I didn't think was too bad) they gave her a pain pill and sent her home.  I didn't really think she would make it through the night but she did.

Bella, reading her scriptures,  We are teaching her to be a good missionary.

Sunday before church Sister Madelyn Waidmann was set apart as a Full Time Missionary, teaching Institute and Seminary online.  She has become such a sweet friend. She invited us to her setting apart with the stake president and Dan got to participate.  At 11:30 (the middle of church) I happened to look at my phone and saw that Sis Traynor had left me a message she was in so much pain and needed to go back to the ER.  So we left church, hurried to pick her up and return to the ER. Five and a half hours later they finally took her back, gave her another pill and sent her home.  Hopefully she will be able to talk to her doctor on Monday and get a new prescription for pain.  We were pretty hungry so I fixed a quick dinner and then we watched the "First Presidency's Christmas Devotional".  It was wonderful.

I think she was trying to help me decorate a little, but got all tangled up in the lights.

I love Christmas and all the lights, decorations, food and kindness it brings.  This year as we get to serve others more, it reminds me of the Savior and all that he has done for us.  What a wonderful time of the year!!
