Cutting up a couch is NOT an easy project!
Week of March 24 - March 30
Transfer Prep Week!!
Monday's are always a little crazy on Transfer week. President is deciding if he will open, close, white wash or do just plain transfers. It keeps us on our toes. And actually he changes his mind right up until the next Wednesday morning when transfers actually happen. It can get a little nerve wracking at times. To add to the stress of the week, we got audited. The auditor goes through each of the departments and checks on everything they are doing. So when it was our turn, thankfully Dan took over. He chose 1 apartment from each Zone. We would have to show him the actual file and then it had to match up with what was on the computer. WELL, no one told us that, though it makes sense, we didn't even know how to do some of that stuff. So, it was a learning curve for us and now we are going through each individual file and making sure everything matches and is up dated. It's a BIG job. We had our 6 week interview with President and then went over to the Storage Unit. Dan needed to get rid of a couch and we couldn't find a place to dump it, so he cut it up so we could put it in a dumpster.

Tuesday, Dan got the couch thrown away into the dumpster. Thank goodness. Then we went over to Hillsboro MO. The apartment we have there is pretty bad and we needed to look for a new one. But honestly there are so few apartments in this town we were really struggling to find anything. We finally found one but couldn't find a phone number or the apartment office to talk to anyone. We saw someone getting out of their car and Dan went over and talked to him. He said the office was right next door. So we went over and talked to them. They didn't know about taking a Corporate Lease but showed us the apartment and said she didn't think there would be a problem. We took a lease application and were so excited that we found one. Since then we have called and called and haven't heard from her again. I guess that means it's a no go. But why couldn't she just tell us instead of ghosting us?
Thursday we went to Effingham to look for an apartment for missionaries there. We at lease had a contact person there and he met us and showed us an apartment that looked great. I don't think we will have any problems getting this one. We have rented from him before and he likes the church.
Friday the auditor was back, checking on a few last things. He met with the whole staff including President and went over what we needed to do better. At least now we know what is expected of us a little better. On Monday President had told us that he was going to open Meramec again and we knew that they needed kitchen chairs, a dresser and some new blinds. So we gathered up the stuff they needed and headed over to just put in the furniture and leave. But once we got there we realized it really did need a good cleaning if new Sisters were going to start living there. So we cleaned for a couple of hours. That night we met with the other Seniors and went to see The Chosen in the theater. It was great!
Saturday, we had 2 funerals to attend. David Nielsen, Trevor's dad passed away. He had been fighting cancer for 9 years. This past year was the hardest. It was his time, but oh how we'll miss him. He is such a great man and we loved learning even more about him at the funeral. Even though we couldn't be there in person, we joined the WebCam and felt part of it.
Also, Melvin Waidmann, passed away. We met him in Fairview Heights, when we were there. We love this sweet couple and his sister. We had Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner with them. I always felt like I was home when we would go there. We are worried about Judy, his wife. She really isn't well enough to live there in their home alone but she is pretty stubborn and not sure she will leave.
