Our sweet Sisters
The week of June 16 - June 22
Transfer week.
We picked up these sweet sisters at the Hotel to take them to the airport to go home. We were taking 4 of the sisters early and then come back for 3 others later. They were having breakfast when we got there we let them finish and then I said, "Okay, it's time to go." They hugged each other over and over again. Then they did one big group hug and when I walked over to them, they were praying together right there in the hotel breakfast room. It was the sweetest thing. A few tears and we were off to the airport.
The Dodges came, a senior couple working at the Family History Library and Sister Cannon came, a single senior sister working in the office.
Friday we went back to Hillsboro to finish us the apartment. I was not looking forward to cleaning it. It has felt so dirty and gross when we were there last week,
I didn't want to do it. Right before we left I remembered, in trying to be officiant, I had already turned off the electricity and the water. We decided to go anyway, we had to get rid of the piles to go to Goodwill. We opened all the blinds and door to let in light. You could see pretty well in every room but the bathroom, which was the worse. So I turned on my flashlight on my phone and would try and set it so I could see. It was a little tricky but it worked. We did have water, thank goodness, but no electricity so we couldn't vacuum. We got pretty much everything else done that needed to be done. Stopped at Goodwill on the way out of town and got rid of everything else. We were happy to be done with that apartment. We went home and rested the rest of the day.
Saturday we went to the Confluent Point where the Mississippi River and the Missouri River meet. It was kind of fun to see the 2 rivers meet and the turbulence that occurs when they do meet. Then we drove over to Alton and had lunch. We had heard about a Sinkhole there and so we went out looking for it. You can't get very close to it because it's all fenced off. It was crazy looking at it. The pictures don't do it justice. That night we went for a walk to see the Firefly's. They are so fun to watch. Fun day.
It was a beautiful walk to the rivers

You two are doing such a great work. There are so many different ways to serve in so many different places. We love to read about your experiences. It brings back memories of some of our experiences.
ReplyDeleteOnce we had two sisters after transfers to take to a new apartment about an hour away. We had all of their luggage in our small mission car and the luggage of a 3rd sister! Mark was the master packer getting all of that into the car plus the young sisters. He had to stack two suitcases, or was it three?, one on top of the other in between the sisters on the back seat. All the way to their new apartment the sisters had to keep putting their hands up whenever there was a turn in the road, so that they wouldn't be crushed by a suitcase sliding off of the stack!
I love seeing your photos too!
ReplyDeleteWe remember you in our prayers.
